Heavy rain alert in 18 Chhattisgarh districts:Strong winds to blow in Bilaspur-Korba, weather to remain same for 5 days

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms and rainfall across Chhattisgarh. Rain accompanied by lightning is likely in 18 districts including Bilaspur and Korba, while 15 districts including Raipur and Dhamtari, face lightning risks. These weather conditions are expected to persist for the next five days. Rain was recorded in over 100 locations on Monday, with an average of 29.42 mm across the state. Bilaspur recorded the highest temperature at 31.0°C, while Rajnandgaon was the coolest at 19.0°C.

To meet the demand for sand in Korba city, sand is mainly mined from the Hasdeo River. For this, two sand ghats are operated at Charpara and Bhilai Khurd on the banks of the Hasdeo River.

Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, organized a mega blood donation drive at BALCO Hospital in collaboration with the District Medical & Health Department, Korba. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from employees, their families, and residents from nearby communities. With over 220 individuals, the camp contributed an equivalent number of blood units, significantly strengthening the blood bank reserves in Korba district.

Tragic Suicide in Chhattisgarh: Teacher’s Mutilated Body Found on Korba Railway Tracks

The shocking discovery was made near Gevra Road railway station under the Kusmunda police station area on Sunday night, sending shockwaves through the local community. The victim, identified as Santosh Nair, a resident of Deepka Urja Nagar, was found with his head severed and lying several meters away from the rest of his dismembered body. Eyewitnesses, including workers heading to a railway siding, spotted the gruesome scene and immediately alerted authorities. Railway police (RPF) and Kusmunda station officers rushed to the site, where they recovered Nair’s mobile phone nearby. Using the device, they contacted his family, who arrived devastated at the scene. Nair, originally from Kerala, had relocated to Chhattisgarh just two years ago. He taught at Beacon English Medium School in Deepka, where colleagues described him as dedicated and quiet. Fellow teachers from the school also visited the site upon hearing the news. Family members expressed utter bewilderment over the circumstances leading to this drastic step, stating they had no inkling of any distress.
