📌 Role Summary
You’ll be joining a clinical healthcare team as a Cardiologist, responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing heart and cardiovascular diseases. The role involves patient evaluation, medical diagnosis, treatment planning, emergency cardiac care, and patient counseling within a hospital or clinical setting.
🧑⚕️ Key Responsibilities
As a Cardiologist you will be expected to:
🔹 Clinical Evaluation & Diagnosis
- Assess patients presenting with heart-related symptoms such as chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular complaints.
- Conduct detailed medical history reviews and physical examinations.
🩻 Diagnostic Procedures
- Order, perform and interpret cardiac diagnostic tests such as:
- ECG (Electrocardiogram)
- Echocardiography
- Stress tests (e.g., TMT)
- Holter Monitoring
and other relevant investigations to evaluate heart function.
💊 Treatment & Management
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, and heart failure.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings.
- Prescribe medications, recommend lifestyle modifications, and provide long-term cardiac care.
🚑 Emergency Care
- Handle cardiac emergencies, stabilize acute cardiac conditions, and participate in emergency response care when needed.
- Coordinate with hospital critical care and other departments during emergencies.
👩⚕️ Patient Counseling & Education
- Communicate treatment plans and expected outcomes to patients and families clearly.
- Advise patients on risk factors, preventive measures, and health-promoting lifestyle choices.
📋 Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring all clinical findings, test results, treatment decisions, and progress notes are up-to-date in compliance with medical standards.
- Follow hospital protocols, medical ethics, and regulatory requirements throughout patient care.
🎓 Qualifications & Skills Required
✔ Education:
- MBBS degree with MD in General Medicine and further specialization in Cardiology (MD/DNB in Cardiology) or equivalent.
✔ Experience:
- Typically 2 – 4 years of relevant clinical experience in cardiology, though some postings may consider flexibility based on candidate expertise.
✔ Skills:
- Strong clinical expertise in cardiovascular medicine
- Ability to work under pressure in emergency settings
- Excellent patient interaction and communication skills
- Good clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary healthcare staff.
✔ Other:
- Valid medical license/registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or respective state medical council
- Commitment to continuing education and staying updated with cardiac care advancements.
📈 Work Environment
You’ll typically work in a hospital or clinical setting where you will be pivotally involved in out-patient (OPD) and in-patient (IPD) cardiac care, collaborate with other surgeons and specialists, and participate in ongoing care delivery improvement efforts.
