The Sri Venkateswara Swamy Brahmotsavam is one of the most significant religious celebrations in Prakasam District, attracting thousands of devotees each year. The festival is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and is observed with great devotion and grandeur in temples across Ongole, Darsi, and nearby towns.
This festival usually takes place during September or October and continues for nine days. Each day features special rituals, poojas, and processions of the deity, beautifully adorned and carried on different vahanas (celestial vehicles) around the temple streets. Devotees participate in these events with devotion, singing hymns and offering prayers for prosperity and well-being.
The Darsi Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is particularly famous for its Brahmotsavam celebrations, drawing devotees from all parts of Andhra Pradesh. The temple and its surroundings are decorated with colorful lights, flowers, and traditional arches, creating a divine and festive atmosphere.
Cultural programs, devotional music performances, and annadanam (community feasts) are organized throughout the festival, promoting unity and spirituality among the people.
The Brahmotsavam in Prakasam district beautifully reflects the region’s deep-rooted faith, temple traditions, and cultural richness, making it a spiritually uplifting experience for every visitor.
