The shocking discovery was made near Gevra Road railway station under the Kusmunda police station area on Sunday night, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The victim, identified as Santosh Nair, a resident of Deepka Urja Nagar, was found with his head severed and lying several meters away from the rest of his dismembered body. Eyewitnesses, including workers heading to a railway siding, spotted the gruesome scene and immediately alerted authorities. Railway police (RPF) and Kusmunda station officers rushed to the site, where they recovered Nair’s mobile phone nearby. Using the device, they contacted his family, who arrived devastated at the scene.

Nair, originally from Kerala, had relocated to Chhattisgarh just two years ago. He taught at Beacon English Medium School in Deepka, where colleagues described him as dedicated and quiet. Fellow teachers from the school also visited the site upon hearing the news. Family members expressed utter bewilderment over the circumstances leading to this drastic step, stating they had no inkling of any distress.
